JOHNATHAN GREEN · THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND ALIGNED

Built from
the operational
layer up.

I’m an automation and integration engineer with more than ten years in enterprise IT and managed services. Through Aligned, I help MSPs and small businesses connect their systems, improve their processes, and put useful automation to work.

SELECTED ENGINEERING WORK

What that experience
looks like in practice.

Examples from my engineering background, showing the process, safeguards, and operational outcomes behind the tools.

01 / MIGRATION & INTEGRATION7,000+endpoints supported by migration tooling

Multi-platform RMM migration tooling

Built PowerShell and REST API tooling for a migration from Kaseya VSA to Datto RMM. The work covered agent matching, classification, metadata mapping, reconciliation, and safe decommissioning across more than 7,000 endpoints.

Designed for operational control

  • Dry-run defaults and protected keep lists
  • Device and site attribution from multiple sources
  • Exception handling for unattended execution

For consulting engagements, this experience informs how I plan migrations: preserve identity, verify the result, and make exceptions visible.

02 / SECURE AI INTEGRATIONContextwith controlled access

OAuth-secured MCP context service

Built a TypeScript Model Context Protocol service that supplies approved context to compatible AI clients. It separates employee data, exposes company guidance read-only, and uses OAuth to control access.

Clear boundaries around information

  • Purpose-built tools and defined context boundaries
  • Isolation of employee information
  • Cloud deployment with a supporting data store

Useful business AI starts with the right information and the right permissions. This work provides a foundation for internal assistants that respect both.

03 / DOCUMENT WORKFLOWSReviewbuilt into the process

Operational document agents

Created an invoice-comparison workflow that flags billing changes and prepares follow-up actions. Built a separate employee-handbook assistant that answers from approved policy documents and routes uncertain questions to HR.

Designed for follow-through

  • Responses grounded in approved sources
  • Explicit uncertainty and escalation paths
  • Reports people can review and act on

These patterns apply to document intake, recurring comparisons, and internal knowledge workflows where interpretation needs a human review path.

04 / OPEN-SOURCE TOOLING3,000+sites enumerated and analyzed

Get-DomainStatus

Created a PowerShell tool that combines RDAP and WHOIS registration data, DNS records, certificate-transparency history, and live TLS analysis. Used it to enumerate and analyze more than 3,000 sites.

Built for reuse

  • Structured output for follow-on automation
  • Multiple sources with graceful fallback
  • Public code and usage documentation

ENGINEERING APPROACH

Dependable steps.
Useful intelligence.
Human ownership.

  1. Choose the simplest reliable mechanism.

Scripts and workflows handle predictable steps. AI supports interpretation, synthesis, and interaction where that adds value.

  2. Design the failure path.

Dry runs, scoped permissions, protected records, logging, and escalation belong in the first design.

  3. Build for adoption.

Documentation, training, and clear ownership help a team trust the result and keep it working.
